Newspaper Micro-Wars

We think it's a good thing that the editor of the Boston Herald, Ken Chandler, is talking major shit about his larger, more-respected, liberal rival, the Boston Globe, because otherwise, we're pretty sure that nobody would even know that Boston has a cheap conservative tabloid. And noticing how Chandler insults the Globe ("...I'd kill myself"), It doesn't surprise us one bit that Chandler used to edit the New York Post.

"'The Globe is a Times wannabe, but it can’t quite pull it off,'” Chandler said last week, as he sat in his office. “'We are just trying to extract some news from an event where there isn’t any. We knew that the Globe was going to give it a big blow job. If I produced a newspaper as boring as the Globe, I’d kill myself.'”

Then again, the Globe's response was not nearly as interesting. (New Yorker)
